Be Grateful

It’s so easy to cuss, complain and dwell on problems and what we don’t have in life: not enough money, not enough time, a complaining boss, noisy children… the list could go on and on.  It’s not just easy to focus on what we don’t have, it’s an epidemic. People do it without thinking… in other words they do it subconsciously.

It takes far more effort to consciously be grateful for what we do have: enough money for food and a roof over our heads, children, a job, fresh drinking water. .. again the list could go on.  If you’re thinking that they are just basic needs you would be right… but thousands of people die every day because they don’t have access to clean water.

What has been touted as a great secret and sold in books and seminars for decades is now being proved scientifically and that is that what we think about we bring about.  Therefore having an attitude of gratitude is extremely important.  As Oprah Winfrey said “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough”.

People and things are attracted to people that have a good vibe (short for vibration). Having an attitude of gratitude is attractive. Moaning and complaining isn’t.  However, for most people, it does take a conscious and sustained effort to change behaviour.

A great exercise is to make a gratitude video.  I did one some time ago and although I was unsure of what I was going to put in it at the beginning the ideas started flowing once I got going.

Here’s my video. If you enjoy it or if this blog has been interesting or helpful please comment.  If you make your own video please feel free to share it.

…and thank you ;-)
